Safety Around Water (formerly Splash) is a national YMCA program that has had great success in many communities. First or second grade children in the Spencer school system have been targeted because drowning is second only to motor vehicle accidents as the leading cause of unintentional injury death in the United States in children of that age group. Children currently enrolled in first or second grade may sign up for the Spencer Family YMCA progressive swim lesson program free of charge whether you are a member or a program participant. This program will be incorporated in the following sessions: Fall I, Fall II, Fall III, Winter I, Winter II, Spring, Summer I & Summer II. Children may only sign up for one session and must be enrolled in first or second grade during the current school year. Please stop by the Member Services Center to sign up!
